At the People's Conference Hall in the east China city, video screens showcased Qingdao's gorgeous seascapes. The full orchestra played its interpretation of the symphonic ode, "The Olympic Sailing Suite".

The work, in 11 movements, was composed by Jeff Rona, a renowned American composer. Rona is a Hollywood veteran. He composed the music for some film luminaries like the Lion King, Gladiator, Mission Impossible, and Kafka.

The Olympic Sailing Suite is the first composition Rona has dedicated to a Chinese city. It's also the composer's first effort at merging the cultural elements of East and West in a single work.

Following its Qingdao premiere, the Olympic Sailing Suite will be performed in other major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
