The May 12th Sichuan earthquake hit hard at the tourist industry, not only in the quake zone, but also in neighbouring regions. In Xi'an, capital of northwestern China's Shaanxi Province, local tourism experienced a sharp drop. Xi'an is home to the famed Terra Cotta army. The city's Tourism Bureau is fighting hard to bring visitors back. Representatives from 11 overseas tourist agencies are visiting the ancient city.

Over forty travel executives from Turkey, Singapore, France and Greece gathered, at Qujiang Park of Xi'an. All were much impressed by the city and its scenic places.
The Xi'an Tourism Bureau also set out preferential policies to help bring back the tourists.
Officials from the provincial government hope the plan will attract more visitors to the city and that the tourist industry will be back to normal quickly.
