In honour of the Olympic Games, Wang Xingjun took some of his major works to South Africa on Monday. Born in 1959 in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the artist grew up in a diverse ethnic environment. It's a place where many people of different origin live in harmony. Most of Wang's works are based on that theme of harmony. They offer audiences a glimpse of life and of the history of western China.
In addition to the films, a collection of Wang Xingjun's photographs is also in the program. The show has previously toured Lesotho and Kenya. It is soon to travel to other African countries including Namibia, Tanzania and Zambia.
