A highlight of the fine art expo is a work by the late painter Chen Yifei. The work is entitled "Looking Back at the Waterscape". It's one of the artist's renowned series "East China's Waterscapes". One of the last works of Chen Yifei, who died a couple of years ago, the work is considered a classic of contemporary Chinese fine arts. That also happens to be the theme of the expo.

Qin Hongqi, organizer of Beijing Int'l Art Expo, said, "This year, we've made a point of presenting the best contemporary artworks of China. Meanwhile, we also set out to feature some heavyweight works from the western art world."

At the Beijing expo, the most striking western artworks on view are sculptures. Among them are works by Auguste Rodin and Salvador Dali. Also available are some representative works in realist and impressionist traditions. Some of them are in China for the first time.

The 11th Beijing International Art Expo runs until Thursday.
