Spring Festival continues to bring new traditions. One of the more recent is performance season that has grown up around the festival. Art troupes at home and abroad bring their best to celebrate the Chinese lunar new year. One highlight is the series of classical ballets by Russia's top dancers. The world famous Russian National Ballet Theatre sends its best performers to interpret the romance of Sleeping Beauty for the Chinese audience. The performers range from 17 to 25 years of age. Many have earned international recognition,winning top awards at prestigious competitions.

Miao Jie, market manager, Beijing Xiandairen culture & com.co.ltd.,said, "It's part of the Spring of Ballet Festival. It was initialed in December 2000. Along with our old friend the Russian National Ballet Theatre, we have also invited The Kremlin Ballet Theater this year. They will perform "Swan Lake" and "Esmeralda" for the Beijing audience."

Other repertoires the Russian National Ballet Theatre chose to stage during the Spring Festival are four classic ballets: "Swan Lake", "the Nutcracker", "Don Quixote" and "Giselle". As part of the current Spring of Ballet Festival, the event offers a chance for Chinese audiences to learn more about ballet as they witness professional interpretation.

Audience member, said, "I have come to see their performance every year since 2000. Very professional. The leading dancers require mature and fully rounded skills to perform Sleeping Beauty. "

To encourage more people to turn out to celebrate the festive mood in the theatre, 40% of the tickets are less than 200 yuan or 30 US dollars. The lowest priced ticket cost only 50 yuan or less than seven US dollars.
