The Third China Film Festival has opened at the oldest cinema in Paris, the Max Linder. The latest cinematic offerings along with classic titles are among 23 film entries bridging a gap with a distant French audience.

Director Zhang Yimou's award-winning film "Riding along for Thousands of Miles "opened the festival. Thousands of Chinese and French filmmakers were there.

23 Chinese films will roll in French cinemas during the following 12 days. Ten contemporary titles will be shown in Max Linder while 13 classics will charge into the French Film Archives. The festival will end with the Court on the Horseback, the 2006 winner at the Venice Film Festival.
