BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The 07' Beijing Forum on Translation Corpus and Education will be held in Beijing from Aug. 17 to Aug. 19, Beijing News reported here Monday.

This forum, jointly held by the Training Center of China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and Monterey Institute of International Studies, is the first international summit on translation education in China.

Participants will discuss topics including translation education, translator and interpreter training for the Olympic Game.

According to early report by Beijing Daily, China has 300,000 professional translators and interpreters, of which over one-fourth are living in Beijing. It also said 10,000 sports translators and interpreters are needed for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Numerous famous translation experts from Monterey Institute, International Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters will attend the forum.
