The twenty-four-hour Live Earth concert hoped to raise awareness about climate change. It took place in nine countries spanning seven continents, both in the Eastern and Western hemispheres. The show kicked off in Sydney. Subsequent performances were showcased in eight cities across the globe. Among them, Tokyo in Japan, Shanghai in China, Johannesburg in South Africa, Istanbul in Turkey, Hamburg in Germany, London in Britain, and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. And finally, drawing to a close in New York, in the U.S.. The twenty-four-hour, LIVE, global gala is intended to send an urgent message to a global audience, originally projected to be as many as two billion. That message - uniting the people of the Earth to wage a global battle against the ongoing environmental crisis.
