Haute couture inspired by ancient themes is increasingly popular in China. Even the famous terra-cotta warriors of Xi'an, were adapted for a Shanghai showing in April. Here in Beijing, the fashion label "Basic Editions" turned back the clock two thousand years to inspire its latest showing.
"Spirit of Chu". The title of the fashion show offers fashion lovers a little schooling in Chinese history. Chu is one of seven warring kingdoms that relentlessly vied for supremacy over China more than two millennia past.
