Cameron Diaz and ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake voice two of the main characters in the third installment of "Shrek". They recently attended the German premiere of "Shrek 3" in Berlin.

The one-time couple seemed at ease with all the attention. Even when a journalist asked Cameron Diaz whether or not it was strange working with her former boyfriend, Diaz replied that they were still very good friends.

In the third instalment, Shrek's new father-in-law, King Harold, falls ill, and the royal family turn to Shrek as heir to the throne.

But becoming the next King and Queen of Far Far Away was never part of Shrek's plan when he married Princess Fiona.

Not one to give up his sticky swamp, Shrek enlists the help of Donkey, voiced by Eddie Murphy, and Puss In Boots, Antonio Banderas. The trio set off on a journey to find the rightful heir to the throne - Fiona's rebellious cousin, Artie, voiced by Justin Timberlake.

Little does Shrek know that while he is away, Prince Charming is plotting to overthrow the kingdom and claim to be King.

The highly successful series sees the return of Diaz, Murphy and Banderas. But Timberlake has also appeared in the cartoon franchise. In 'Shrek 2', a poster of "Sir Justin" on the wall of Princess Fiona's bedroom flashes across the screen.

The film will open in China on August 21.
