The Italian city of Naples hopes to throw-off its crime-laden image with public art displays. A series of subway stations in deprived areas of the city have become subterranean temples of art.

Naples' underground train stations are some of the most modern in the world. The subway system carries 160 thousand passengers per day. The stations are equipped with 660 security cameras, and 170 escalators and elevators.
