What better place to learn about Chinese language and culture than one called the Confucius Institute? Set up by the Chinese government in cities around the world, the institute has recently opened in Egypt's prestigious Suez Canal University.
China and Egypt signed an agreement to jointly establish the institute. The Chinese ambassador to Egypt, Wu Sike, visited the campus, where more than 40 students from the university's Chinese department welcomed him.
So far, four Egyptian universities have set up Chinese departments, each with at least 1,000 students.
