Every ship that goes to the bottom of the sea takes with her a host of stories. Sometimes, just occasionally, they can be re-discovered. After nearly a thousand years, this is what is happening to the "Nan-Hai No.1", found lying on the bottom of the South China Sea back in 2001.
And six years of work the ship is finally ready to see the light day, again. The surrounding area, up to a radius of one nautical mile, has been cordoned off so that the salvage work will not be disturbed by passing fish boats that usually throng the waters.
The weather conditions for the following days are being closely monitored. The most delicate stage of the salvage operation, that of actually raising the sunken ship, has already had to be postponed once because of a sudden change in the weather.
