Twenty-eight days before the release of new science fiction thriller "28 Weeks Later", London's Houses of Parliament and Dover's white cliffs were marked with biohazard symbols to launch the film in the UK.

The movie is a follow up to the 2003 hit "28 Days Later" in which a highly contagious virus spreads through Britain, leaving behind only a few survivors - and the blood-crazed, zombie-like victims.

In the sequel, the U.S. army declares the virus beaten 28 weeks after it has annihilated the island nation. The reconstruction of Britain begins and refugees start to return.

However the scientists are wrong and the virus returns, this time more dangerous than ever.

"28 Weeks Later" stars Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner and Harold Perrineau and is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

The movie is due to break out in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from May 11.
