Relics of rock are up for grabs at an auction to be held later this month in New York City. The "Icons of Music" sale will benefit the charity "Music Rising", which provides aid for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The auction is the idea of U2 guitarist The Edge, who was inspired to help out Katrina victims after traveling to New Orleans.
Darren Julien, from Julien's Auction House, said, "'Music Rising' was co-founded by The Edge of U2, and originally, we thought we were going to get some T-shirts and maybe some concert-worn shoes, but when The Edge started working with us to put this together, he gave us two of his most important guitars, one guitar, it's his 1975 Gibson Les Paul he's played throughout the career of U2, it was the third guitar that he's ever purchased, which is a very sentimental and personal item to him."
