"Funny business is a woman's career" -- that was the soundtrack as Michele Miglionico's models came down the runway with the latest collection from the Italian fashion designer. But no, this wasn't part of some anti-feminist backlash.

On the closing day of Beijing Fashion Week, Italian designer Michele Miglionico presented his collection for winter 2007 at the Beijing Hotel. Lady-like dignity ruled the runway - there were no see-through blouses or filmy, barely-there dresses..... in fact nothing overtly sexy, at all! Instead, models all wore a highly-groomed look, their hair loosely curled for just a hint of Hollywood glamour.

Black dominated the runway. But matte, sparkling or shimmering the sense of dressy-ness was heightened by gloves in a vibrant shade of red.

"Funny business is a woman's career," chimed the background music as models walked gracefully on the runway. The unsaid thing can be found in an essay by Joseph Mankiewicz, American movie director and producer - "Funny business, a woman's career: the things you drop on the way up the ladder as you can move faster. You forget you'll need them again when you get back to being a woman".

The designer Michele Miglionico knows how hard it is for modern career ladies to juggle two or three balls at one time. His clothes are sympathetic to the female body, and speak not to the role, but the sole of the women.
