Frankie Xie is China's first designer to take his creation to the opening of Paris Fashion Week. His company, Jefen is China's first brand to get onto the global haute couture stage. The 46-year-old designer mixes the best of the east and the west to reflect his own personality, which is modest yet ambitious. In today's "The List", we'll take you on a journey into Frankie Xie's world.

This is the first Chinese designer's collection released at Paris Fashion Week. And in 2006, Frankie Xie opened the fashion feast at the Louvre on the 1st of October.

Frankie Xie said, "My inspiration came from the airline stewardesses in the 1950s and 60s. In my mind, airports and airlines are a both kinds of gates, all leading to places unknown. So at the beginning, you hear the voice of an airline stewardess, taking you to a new world."

Frankie named his debut "The Gate", as he hopes his collection will open the door between China and the international fashion world. But professionals in Paris are known for their critical comments. Many designers have won domestic success but failed in Paris. Frankie was nervous before the show.
