BEIJING, Oct. 31 -- Chinese actor Zhang Guoli and actress Jiang Qinqin won Most Popular TV Actor and Actress at the 23rd China Golden Eagle TV Art Festival on Sunday in Changsha, Hunan Province.

Eight actors including Li Youbin, Zhu Yuanyuan, Chen Jianbin, Jiang Qinqin, Li Xuejian, Yin Tao, Liu Jia and Wu Jing won the Audience's Favorite Actor and Actress award. This is the first time the star couple Chen Jianbin and Jiang Qinqin have won the award together.

The Best TV Anchor award went to CCTV's variety program hostess Dong Qing. Five other anchors, Wang Han, Hu Ziwei, Li Yong, Chu Tianshu and Yu Hui, each received a TV Anchor award.

The Best TV Series award was given to "Ren Changxia," which is based on the true story of a female police officer who died in a car accident while on business.

"Chen Yun in Linjiang River," a story about the Long March and "Walking into Shisuogou" won the Best Short TV Series.

All the nominees were selected by ordinary viewers, and winners were voted for by a panel of selected audience members at the awards ceremony.

Li Xuejian, who has been fighting cancer for many years, sang the theme song "Anyone to Sell Emply Bottles?" from the drama he starred in "Papa, Can You Hear Me Sing?" with Supergirl Ji Minjia. His performance moved many audience members to tears.

When veteran actor Tang Guoqiang gave out the Audience's Favorite Actor award to Li Xuejian, Tang joked that he was only popular among elder TV viewers and he should learn from Li to gain more popularity from all ages.
