China's northeastern province of Jilin is home to tens of thousands in the Korean ethnic minority. The group's history was revealed on stage, Thursday night, in the music and dance gala "Thousand Years of Arirang". The show is part of Beijing's Ethnic Arts Festival.

Arirang is a time-honored form of Korean ballad. And it's rhythms carry the theme through the show's three movements. Choreography and lighting are skillfully combined, to create strong visual impact.

Head of Yanbian Song &Dance Company Piao Ruixing said:"The Koreans of Jilin Province are born singers and dancers. And this time, we invited first-class choreographers and sound people from South Korea, to help the show."

Drumming is another important part of the repertoire in Korean performing arts. "Thousand Years of Arirang" unveils the panorama of life, in China's Korean ethnic areas - and presents the theme of man, earth and heaven in harmony.
