A special exhibit has opened this year's Chengdu Photo Expo. Photographer Luo Hong has promised to donate all the money he makes at the event's auction. And he wants the recipients to be Sichuan residents, suffering from the summer's paralyzing heat and drought.

After a full day of signing his photo albums, greeting guests and answering questions from the media Luo Hong looked a little tired.

But not tired enough to keep him from smiling as visitors crowded into the exhibition. Luo is originally from Sichuan provience...but now lives in Beijing. He said this is an opportunity for him to give something back to his old friends and neighbors.

Luo Hong said:"I've been struggling outside Sichuan for years. And now I think it's time to help my hometown when she is experiencing such a difficult time. I'm happy that my pursuits in the art of photography has not only made me well known...but also, at this moment...can help to provide some help for the local people."

A vistor named Ma Jia said:"I like his photos, I asked my mum to bring me here, and I have bought one album with my pocket money. I hope that money can help the kids in the drought-hit area. "

Luo's donations will be transferred to the drought-stricken areas in Sichuan by the local Red Cross--one of the organizers behind Luo's personal exhibition.

Luo's contribution is the largest donation for the drought-stricken area. The local Red Cross has received to date.

Even before the exhibition, Mr. Luo donated 200,000 yuan to the people in the drought area. It's really a hard time for Sichuan at the moment. Mr. Luo is setting a good example.

Another 400,000 yuan was raised through the Internet auction of his photographs on the first day of the exhibition.
