On Friday, an Internet rehab training camp was shut down in Naning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Earlier, a teenage boy died there just hours after his arrival. His parents sent him there in hopes of a cure over the boy's addiction to computer games. But instead of recovering, the boy was discovered dead with wounds all over his body.

The center is located on the campus of the Guangxi Electronic Technician School, near Nanning airport. In the wake of the tragedy, local authorities discovered that the training camp was operating without a license.

Xia Zheng, the school master of Nanning Qihang Salvation Training Camp, said, "We have been preparing to apply for qualification to accept students. In fact, we were just about to submit our materials to the local administration."

The training camp began recruiting students suffering from Internet addiction in May, even though it had not yet obtained a license. The school's headmaster says that students are primarily under 18, and receive military-style training, psychological assistance and classes in Chinese studies. He says the school has more than 120 students and 24 teachers.

Local authorities shut down the training camp Friday night and police detained 13 suspects for questioning.
