The Chinese Embassy in France launched an emergency response plan upon learning nine Chinese nationals were on the missing plane. The director of the consular section of the Embassy tells CCTV they are coordinating their efforts with France.

Xu Jiangong, director of Consular Dept. of Chinese Embassy in France, said, "The embassy launched an emergency response plan to deal with matters related to the Chinese passengers right after hearing the news on Monday. The ambassador called a meeting with the directors of related sections of the embassy to discuss the plan. We also contacted the French Foreign Ministry and Air France and learned that there were nine Chinese nationals on the plane. The relatives and employers of those Chinese passengers have contacted us. The French Foreign Ministry tells us their status is still considered to be missing, so they haven't decided about their relatives coming to France. We will continue to coordinate with them."
