As we just heard, Airbus has stressed that the quality of the China-assembled A-320 is no less than that of similar models put together in France and Germany. But there are cost advantages to moving the assembly process to Tianjin.
Li Hai, chairman of Dragon Aviation Leasing, says, "the cost of a domestically-assembled airliner is much lower; the maintenance fee is also lower. This is good for airline companies. They don't need to fly to Europe when airliners need to be repaired."
