Special Report:   China Development Forum 2009

China's 950 billion yuan fiscal budget for 2009 is under control, given the economy's foundation and its recent cash injections. That's according to Vice Finance Minister, Wang Jun, who said on Sunday at the China Development Forum. He said the budget accounts for about 2.9 percent of GDP, below the 3-percent international safety standard.

Wang Jun also said that Chinese government bonds are estimated to take up about 20 percent of GDP this year. This is also within the margin of safety. Wang Jun said the Chinese government has taken an active fiscal policy and increased central spending since the second half of last year. He admits the plan has some fiscal risks, but he says the government has been working on a series of measures against possible financial threats.
