China's top oil firm CNPC is now bigger than oil major BP and Shell, according to Petroleum Intelligence Weekly's latest annual survey ranking the world's 50 largest oil companies.

China's top oil firm CNPC is now bigger than oil major BP  and Shell.

China National Petroleum Corporation moved into the number five position, bumping BP and Shell into the sixth and seventh positions for 2007, respectively. China is the world's second largest oil consumer after the United States.
