Yin Weimin says despite a slowdown in the first three quarters, there has been stable growth in employment with 9.4 million employees joining the payroll in urban areas hitting 94 percent of the target for the year. Meanwhile, unemployment stands at four percent, as of the end of September, little changed from the same period a year ago.

Yin Weimin also discussed issues related to social welfare, and reported steady progress. Insurance for pensions, unemployment, medical care, work related injury and childbirth, are all posting a 5 percent year-on-year rise in coverage for the month of September.
