Premier Wen Jiabao says China needs to overcome many difficulties in order to sustain fast and steady economic development. He made the comments on Sunday, during an inspection tour of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

First stop for Wen Jiabao was the Beibu Gulf, a new developing economic zone in Guangxi. Many high-tech firms have moved there from neighboring Guangdong province, and various big projects are under construction.
Wen Jiabao says the region should stress technological innovation, and promote the growth of the coastal, high-tech and modern service industries. He directed local officials to protect the environment while developing the economy.
The Premier also paid visits to the countryside. He reaffirmed the central government's support for agriculture, such as raising subsidies. He assured farmers the country will always consider agricultural development one of the top priorities in economic growth.
