The inter-city high-speed commuter train between Beijing and neighboring Tianjin has shortened travel time to just half an hour. And that's why China Post was able to announce a new, same-day delivery service between the capital and the harbor city on Friday, when the new railway started running.

The service promises any package accepted before 11 am in either Beijing or Tianjin will be delivered by 6 pm anywhere in the other city. That's the fastest delivery service in China at the moment.

The service will only cost 20 yuan to deliver normal-sized envelopes. China Post only accepts packages weighing less than 500 grams at the moment, but it plans to deliver heavier and larger goods gradually in the future.
