China National Offshore Oil Company, or CNOOC, announced on Wednesday that it has begun trial production at a new oil field cluster in the South China Sea.

The field's daily output is currently 14-thousand barrels, with seven wells under trial production. CNOOC holds a 100 percent interest in the fields.
