China exported software worth 28.1 billion yuan in the first five months of this year, 45 percent more than the same period of 2007. That's according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
China's software industry was valued at more than 580 billion yuan in 2007, the fourth largest in the world and accounting for 8.7 percent of the world's total software industry. The ministry says the country will speed up the merger of the industry and information technology sectors. Its goal is to create a big enough market for the development of the software industry in China.
