SEOUL, June 2 (Xinhua) -- President Lee Myung-bak said Monday that he will come up with a set of administrative shake-up measures in several days to allay the growing public resentment over the planned resumption of U.S. beef imports and other controversial reform policies by his administration.
Lee made the remarks during his breakfast meeting with Kang Jae-sup, chairman of the ruling Grand National Party, as tens of thousands of citizens have gathered in downtown Seoul every day to hold candlelight protests against Lee and his administration's controversial policies.
"Kang recommended that Lee be more open to opinions of various circles of the society and implement measures, including a cabinet reshuffle and the establishment of a new organization for smoother communications with the people, to address the unfavorable public sentiment," presidential spokesman Lee Dong-kwan said.
"In response, President Lee said he will sufficiently listen to the opinions of various elder members of the society before announcing comprehensive measures to help allay public resentment," said the spokesman.
