The head of the China Securities Regulatory Commission said on Friday that the commission was actively preparing to launch trade in stock index futures, but had no concrete timetable for doing do.
Shang Fulin said the same was the case for another long-planned innovation in the stock market, the introduction of margin trading and securities lending.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a financial industry conference in Shanghai. The stock market has been speculating that authorities may introduce the new forms of trade soon as part of their efforts to support the market.
