| Close to twenty more airlines have just made their move to the new Terminal at Beijing's International Airport. |
Stage 2 of the flights have just moved into the third terminal at Beijing Capital International Airport.
This also means nearly 60 percent of the airport's handling capacity has now been shifted to Terminal 3, and Wednesday marks the first day of full operations at the new facility.
AirChina, Shanghai Airlines, Singapore Airlines, as well as 20 other airlines will operate at the new building. All passengers traveling with those airlines will have to check-in at T3, while China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines will still stay at Terminal 2.
Lin Yibin, Deputy Manager of Operating Control Center of BCIA said "March 26th is also the date when Terminal 3 starts to handle all domestic fights between Beijing and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. At Terminal 2 and 3, We also set up the Beijing Shanghai Flights Fast Track Services, and passengers will be able to check-in very quickly."
Figures from the airport show, that since the start of a test-run of T3 on February 29th, over 300 travelers got lost or checked in at the wrong terminals every day, and most of them were unaware of the flights transfers, or taking the wrong shuttle buses.
In order to improve services and provide more convenience, the airport has decided to add more free shuttle buses to assist passengers.
Because of stricter check measures have been adopted, the Beijing Capital International Airport also suggests, travelers to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the takeoff, and not to take too many liquid products with carry-on luggage.
