In Beijing the China-Ghana Investment and Business Forum is being held to promote economic ties. Ghana's vice president was there and he's said he hopes more Chinese enterprises will do business in his country.

Organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the China-Ghana Investment and Business Forum attracted over three hundred entrepreneurs and officials from both countries. They discussed cooperation in various fields including trade, investment and tourism.

A council official says Chinese enterprises are enthusiastic to invest in Africa. The Chinese government has set up a five billion US dollar African Development Fund to assist business cooperation between China and Africa. Ghana is considered a good choice for investment and trade.

The vice president of Ghana, Alhajialiu Mahama attended the event. China is his last leg of the three country trade and investment mission including India and the United Arab Emirates. He says Chinese business in Ghana is thriving, and he invited more Chinese enterprises to invest.

An official from Ghana's investment promotion center says the country tries to create good climate to attract investment.

Located in western Africa, Ghana possesses rich mineral resources and agriculture as its major economic sectors. Mineral, coca and wood are its three supporting industries. It is also one of the top ten travel destination in Africa. Tourism has become its fastest growing sector.

In 2007, the trade volume between China and Ghana reached 1.27 billion US dollars, with 1.22 billion exports and 0.5 billion imports by China.
