Thousands of tourists have flocked to Thailand's Surin province for an annual elephant show which is said to be the largest of its kind.

Surin has long been a national centre for the majority of domesticated elephants in Thailand. Elephant football is the all time favorite for all the mahouts, the audience and the elephants.

With eleven elephants at a side, it is not easy for the referee to catch a foul play, but that didn't stop the fun! The festival is also a chance for children to show off their skill in handling an elephant. Many of them were trained by their family to control the jumbo.

The festival started in 1960 and has now become one of Thailand's biggest tourist draws.
