The price of farm produce has risen dramatically this week compared to last week. This is especially true for cooking oil, according to figures released by the Ministry of Commerce.
Yao Jingang is a merchant at the Beijing Jinxiu Dadi Grain and Oil Wholesale Market. He says the past several weeks have seen a rise in the price of cooking oil.
Yao said "Take this kind of barrel, its wholesale price last week was 46 yuan, this week it has risen to 51 yuan."
In Beijing, the average wholesale price of soybean oil was 10.3 yuan per liter last week. It's up 0.3 yuan this week. The price of peanut oil was 18.75 yuan. It's half a yuan more this week. And sunflower oil prices have risen from 13 to 14 yuan.
An Jie, General Manager of Beijing Jinxiu Dadi Grain & Oil Market said "But sales have not been affected by the price rise. Supply has been sufficient."
Not only Beijing, but Shanghai, Dalian and other cities have also reported rises in the price of cooking oil. According to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Commerce, average farm produce prices increased by 0.8 percent this week. And among them, soybean oil, peanut oil and rape oil have risen by more than one percent.
