Since 1999, Golden Week has become synonymous in the country with tourism. The Civil Aviation Administration predicts that during the upcoming week-long National Day holiday, nearly 3.5 million people will travel by air, an increase of 15 percent from last year.
The aviation administration says the travel peak will run from September 29th to October first, and from October sixth to the eighth. Those are the main days tourists will be flying out and returning.
15 Chinese airlines have planned more than 2000 extra flights for the increased passenger flow. Even so, tickets to many popular destinations have already sold out.
