A unified standard for nuclear power across the country is in the works as part of efforts to boost independent development of related technology.

This is according to a senior official with the top economic planner. Zhang Guobao says the lack of a uniform criteria means existing power stations in the country are using different standards adopted from France, Germany, Russia and the United States.

In response to this, the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council are pushing for a national standard. And this will target nuclear power equipment and technology.
