China has set the route for its second east-west natural gas pipeline. The pipeline will bring gas imported from central Asia to the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas.
The project's sole investor, China National Petroleum Corporation, says the pipeline will cross 13 Chinese regions, carrying natural gas from central Asian countries, like Turkmenistan, to eastern and southern China, including Shanghai and Guangdong.
The main line will measure over 48-hundred kilometers long. Construction will begin in 2008, and the gas will begin flowing in 2010. The annual transmission volume is estimated to be 30 billion cubic meters.
