Now news anchors will not only debut on TV, but will soon be coming to your cellphone screen. Shanghai has held its first Mobile Phone Anchor Competition on Sunday, and the winner will become the first anchor of its kind in China.

Organizers say a cellphone anchor needs to be entertaining and communicative, making users willing to interact with the program.

Li Ying from East China Normal University claimed the champion title, beating out competitors from other local universities. She will make her debut in June at Shanghai's Fifth Media, the world's first 24-hour live channel tailored especially for cellphones.
