Japan plans to expand its agricultural exports to 8.3 billion US dollars by 2013. The figure is three times the present trade volume. In this plan, China becomes Japan's major export destination for many kinds of agricultural products.
Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture announced Thursday, that it has set up 49 export projects in 11 kinds of agricultural products.
In the plan, China becomes the major export destination for Japan's rice, apple and beef. Japan also plans to conduct research this year on China's market capacity. The purpose is to establish the demand for agricultural products from China's upper middle class consumers.
