Chinese shares started higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opening at 4,021.42 points, up 8.34 points, or 0.21 percent.
The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 4,013.08 points on Wednesday.
