China's increasing oil demand is unlikely to be significantly affected by surging world oil prices, as domestic usage does not change on a seasonal basis. That's according to the International Energy Agency. The IEA in April predicted a 5.5-percent rise in China's crude oil demand growth this year, compared with 2.1 percent increase last year. The Chinese oil market is different to the US and European market where demand jumps during the summer driving season.
