British born Chris Gelken is an award winning journalist with about 25 years experience in broadcast, print and web-based journalism.

Chris first came to China in 1986 and was actually on hand to cover the opening of the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet in the capital. How things have changed since then!!!!

Chris' career has taken him to almost 40 countries and territories around the world from Europe to the US and remote Pacific Islands.

Chris joined CCTV from Hong Kong's TVB where he was a main news anchor and senior producer on the multi award winning news and current affairs documentary program, "The Pearl Report."

"I joined CCTV because I saw an opportunity to be part of something quite exciting, something that hasn't been attempted before in China. There's still a way to go of course, but there always is. Television stations, as with all other media, are constantly evolving, but I think CCTV International has got off to a very good start."
