In our first item, we’ll discover how changes to the qualification rules for the Olympics this year are affecting the preparations of the Chinese badminton team; then we’ll meet the lady who was China’s queen of table-tennis back in the 1980s; and finally, we’ll be hearing from someone who is not an athlete himself, but who has, as a team doctor, played a key role in a number of Chinese sporting successes.

China is a superpower of world badminton, and great things are expected of the national team at the Beijing Olympics. However, exactly who will make up that team is far from certain. The position of some of the more established players is under threat from some rising talents – and from changes to the qualification rules.
