30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up

Around China will be bringing you 19 editions of special programs reviewing 30 years of reform and opening up in China. In December 1978, the 3rd plenary session of the 11th Party Congress was held. It was a historic meeting, since it launched the reform and opening up policy. From then on, China embarked on an entirely new course of development, which led away from the planned economy and into the new era of the market economy.

Over the past 30 years, tremendous changes have taken place in all walks of life and the living standards of the Chinese people have improved markedly.
