Centenarian reveals his secret of long life

Da Zhixian celebrated his 100th birthday in September 2008. Da has a wide range of hobbies, such as taking walks, reading newspapers or books, and drinking a cup of alcohol at noon and in the evening. However, the biggest difference between Da and other people is that Da has a fishpond and he likes to catch the fish he raises for fun.

"Grandpa, here comes your alcohol"

Yesterday at noon, at the 4th branch of Chuanxing Village, Daxing Town, Bishan County, 60-year-old Da Shiwen, Da Zhixian's grandson, gave a 100 gram cup of alcohol to Da Zhixian. Grandpa Da took the cup and had a sip of the alcohol, after that, he mumbled contentedly.

Grandpa Da smiled and told reporters that he drinks a cup of alcohol at noon and another in the evening. 70 years have passed since he began this habit at the age of 30. 10 years ago, he drank 250 grams at a time, and now, due to health concerns, he only drinks 100 grams.

Only his family members are aware of his alcohol addiction because he never drinks outside of his home. "If I drink alcohol outside of my home, other people may persuade me into drinking more and I may get drunk."

For fun, he catches the fish that he raises himself

After the meal, grandpa Da took a break. Then, he took out his fishing rod and walked toward his fishpond.

"Look, the fishing floats are moving backward. Fish may have taken the bait!"

One hour later, grandpa Da suddenly tightened his grip on the fishing rod and stood up. Then, he pulled the rod backward and a fish appeared on the water's surface.

"My grandpa likes fishing. Because we are his family, we dug a fishpond in the back of our courtyard in order to satisfy his need," said Da Shiwen. Grandpa goes to a local town to buy fish in the market. Sometimes, he goes fishing at another pond 500 meters away and brings home 3 to 4 kilograms of fish."
