Main pavilion will be hanging above a pool

It is the first time that Basle, Geneva and Zurich have showcased their common city pavilion outside Switzerland. With a total investment of 4.6 million Swiss francs, the common city pavilion will be showcased in the middle of the UBPA. It will be located in Hall B4-1, and cover an area of 720 square meters, the largest pavilion in the middle of UBPA. It will be colored white, and feature the theme of improving water quality. There is a huge circular pool on the first floor of the pavilion, which will make visitors feel cool. A unique 360-degree panoramic theater will be unfolded before visitors when they enter the pavilion through the bridge over the pool. The pavilion is circular as well, and hangs above the pool.

President of the Swiss Confederation will visit the pavilion

Officials with the pavilion revealed that the 360-degree panoramic screen is circular and is almost four meters high. Through a special water curtain film, the scenery of Basle, Geneva and Zurich will be unfolded before visitors in just eight minutes. The water curtain film will be played 24 hours a day, and visitors will have a bird's-eye view of the three cities. During the Shanghai World Expo 2010, visitors could watch the video filmed in the three cities this summer to showcase the influence and contribution of rivers and lakes to the lives of people who live on the shores.

Basle, Geneva and Zurich also revealed their schedule for the upcoming Shanghai World Expo 2010, and the highlights include the common city day and the Swiss Pavilion day falling on May 29, 2010. The President of the Swiss Confederation will come for a visit on August 12, 2010.
