On November 14, Beijing Automotive exhibited a "BE701" electric sedan, which is the main new energy vehicle the company produces. The vehicle has a maximum speed of 160km/h and can run for 200 kilometers once fully charged. The battery can be fully recharged in one hour in quick mode, and in 10 hours in slow mode.

This type of electric vehicle consumes just 12 kilowatt-hours of thermal electricity per 100 kilometers. Calculated on an annual mileage of 15,000 kilometers, the electric sedan can save over 5,000 yuan in fuel costs per year compared to a traditional gasoline vehicle. In terms of energy saving and environmental protection, the vehicle emits 0.92 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour of thermal electricity generated, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2.28 tons or 50 percent per year compared to a traditional gasoline vehicle.

Reporters also learned that between 20,000 and 40,000 new energy vehicles of all types will be produced and sold in Beijing in 2011. Beijing Automotive's annual sales revenue from new energy vehicles is expected to reach 1.5 billion yuan in 2015, accounting for 5 to 10 percent of the total sales income of the group.
