Li is too devoted to work.
"I chose to be a psychological therapist because I like the job." On November 14 sitting on the sofa at home, Li told reporters frankly that when she obtained her senior psychological therapist practicing certificate, she quit her job in a state-owned enterprise and started working for a well-known psychological counseling company in Chongqing to realize her dream of helping patients to solve their psychological problems.
Initially she worked well and received more than ten patients a day. In May 2009 however, a telephone call completely changed Li’s life. A woman the same age as Li called for help. She said that her family was not well-off, but her husband liked gambling. She had a low monthly income of just 800 yuan, but her husband took it all to gamble and she had been fired by her boss. The woman could not bear her hard life and had swallowed more than 100 sleeping pills to commit suicide.
"At that time, her voice sounded very weak." Li said that when she learned that the woman wanted to commit suicide, she immediately dialed 110 and 120. The woman was saved, but Li could not stop thinking about her. She said that thinking about how the woman was the same age as her but had suffered so much, "was like a ghost trying to break my fragile nerves."
Li brought the woman's sorrow into her own life involuntarily. Whenever she thought of the woman, she could not help crying. She wondered why a woman the same age as her led such a miserable life. Li's husband Wang Wenguo said that one day when he was watching TV at home he heard his wife crying and rushed to comfort her. He asked her why she was crying and she simply said “that woman's life is too miserable."
Li's friend Liu Xiao said that Li used to be very lively and active, but she suddenly became very sentimental in June this year. Once when several friends dined together, they talked about a friend who intended to divorce and Li cried. Li said that women should not be too silly and that they should live for themselves. Liu said, "Everyone there kept comforting her all the time."
